August 2026 - Another Bustling Month Of Commitments

29/8/2026

• I completed typing up the report of the recent dementia friendly premises assessment I carried out on Ivybridge Town Council Office.

• I continued visiting some of the businesses in Ivybridge with Councillor Crystal Cao, to offer them support to become dementia friendly.

• I delivered a dementia awareness session to the team at Newsome Opticians in Ivybridge (05/08/26), which was well received.

• I attended the Dementia Support South Devon Forum meeting (05/08/26) and the South Hams District Wellbeing Alliance meeting (11/08/26) and gave an update on the work of Four Rivers Dementia Alliance (and Dementia Friendly Parishes Around the Yealm) at both.

• I have continued co-facilitating the fortnightly carer’s group at Tumbly Hill Wellbeing Hub in Kingsbridge (04/08/26 and 18/08/26).

• I carried out dementia friendly building assessments on the village hall, church, church room and the Health Centre in South Brent (25/08/26).

A few other things in the pipeline are:

• I will be meeting with one of the Salcombe Town Councillors (07/09/26) to discuss potentially providing support to the Town Council to work towards becoming dementia friendly (07/09/26).

• I will be carrying out a dementia friendly building assessment on the Woolwell Centre in Bickleigh Parish (10/09/26).

• I will continue visiting businesses in Ivybridge with Councillor Crystal Cao (This is a long-term piece of work) and will be delivering a dementia awareness session for a solicitor’s firm (13/10/26).

• I have arranged another dementia awareness session that will be open to any businesses in Ivybridge (14/09/26).

• I will be carrying out a dementia friendly building assessment on Ivybridge Library (21/09/26).
